This presentation I've been working on interaction, the interaction in my application is not so complicated, but this is just my second time of using virtools, so a simple interaction probably takes me few days to figure out how it is work.These is some screen shot from my read time application.

Various type of animation and camera angle. User camera will switch while reaching certain area. and a bunch of information...

This make me looks hardworking!!!

The interaction that I haven done is cloth changing, i'm not pretty sure about it, maybe at the end this idea will be abandon. I face a lot of problem while merging the scene, for sure this is not the perfect one, but things will improve soon.

According to the result of the survey that I did, most of the kids prefer 2d animation. So I've decided to use toon shader for my application.

Races - Malay, Chinese and Indian.
Reason - These is the main 3 races in Malaysia.

Food
Satay -It is a very common Malay food, it is a grill meat on bamboo skewers. The animation would be the avatar using his hand to hold the stick and eat the satay.
DimSum -It is a light dishes for Chinese. The colour of it would be quite colourful due to the variety of dim sum. The animation would be the avatar using chop stick to pick the dim sum and eat.
Curry -The traditional Indian food is widely use of herb and spices.The representative of this kind of food is curry. The colour of the food is very nice, it is orange-red colour. The animation would be the avatar put on some curry on the rice and eat it by using hand.

Instrument - the choose of the instruments is wind instruments of each races.

I found a game that is very suitable for my project.
It is an online game from disney.com name "Toon Town".
The style of the game is very similliar to what I want to do, cartoon style.
And the main thing is this online game is mainly for kids, so the interface and style is more suitable.
These is some screen shot in the game:

My cybertown is this kind of graphic, the polygon is very minimal, and most of the textures is painted in 2d software such as photoshop and coral painter, this might be a challenge for me later on.

Project title:
Cultural Cybertown

Description:
This application is an application that introduce Malaysia cultural with a more fun way, which is cartoonish style. The cultural and life style that will be introduced in this application is based on the 3 races in Malaysia. The viewport of the application would be 3rd person view, so user may watch the traditional costume that wear by the character. And most of the item, user are able to interact with, such as user click on the bowl, the animation of eating will be activated.

Objective:
Attract kids(4-9) to learn about other races cultural & lifestyle with fun and not too serious like learning in class.

What will it communicate:

Since the main application communicate is Cultural and lifestyle, I have to find those information about that. So...as a MMU student, 1st place that I will used to searching info is google, wikipedia. Unfortunately there is a lot of things which is not I wanted, is it my problem?!

Then I decided to search information in the library. I'm not been there long long time ago, and don't even know where should i go for find my information. Finally I get 2 books, which is "The encyclopedia of Malaysia-Architecture" and "Encyclopedia of Cultures and Daily Life". Whao, finally I got this two books which is very useful for my project...but the problem is...the books is not allowed to borrowed...what the...How could it be~~

Then finally I just photostat some pages that i need in these books..no colour...photo quality sucks...:(

Welcome to viewing my progress about my final year project.

The title of my project is Cartoon Cybertown. It is actually an application that show the cultural of the 3 races in Malaysia, Chinese, Malay, and Indian, with cartoonish style. 3 scene, 3 culture, 3 lifestyle, 3 kind of architectural.

I need to do more research on the culture, and also need to studies principe of cartoon. I do think of some references in my mind, and I'll post some photo on it later on.Hopefully I could make an application with entertain + educational together!!!
p.s. But Ms Natalya said it is hard.
